Reissuing Checks

If you were sent a check from the Bursar's Office, and the check...

  • Never arrived in the mail after 14 days
  • Was lost or stolen
  • Was completely destroyed
  • * Has expired / stale dated  (see below)

You may go to the Bursar's Office to request a Stop Payment on the check and begin the process of reissuing another check. Alternatively, you may submit a Stop Payment Request using our online form below. You will need to include a copy/photo of your CatCard.

Stop Payment Request Form

You may be charged a $20 fee for this service if: 1) it has been less than 14 days since the check was mailed, 2) the check was mailed to the wrong address because you did not update your address in UAccess, or 3) the check was lost or destroyed while in your possession. This fee can be waived if your address was correct when the check was mailed AND it has been more than 14 days. Stop Payments can take approximately 3 to 5 business days for processing. Once the process is complete you can be issued a new check. You may be required to verify and update your address in UAccess prior to reissuing your check.

* In certain cases, stale dated checks (180 days past the printed check date) can be reissued by the Bursar's Office without having to request a Stop Payment. Bring the check to a Bursar Representative in the University Services Building, Room 106. This process may take several days, depending on the amount of the check and how long it has been stale dated.

NEVER WRITE "VOID" ACROSS THE FACE OF A CHECK IF YOU ARE GOING TO ATTEMPT TO HAVE THE BURSAR'S OFFICE REISSUE IT OR IF YOU ARE GOING TO RETURN IT BECAUSE YOU DON'T WANT TO ACCEPT YOUR FINANCIAL AID. If you do not wish to accept your financial aid, contact the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid.
