Qualified Tuition Reduction

The Qualified Tuition Reduction (QTR) Program enables eligible active and officially retired employees, their spouses and qualified dependents, to enroll for classes at reduced tuition rates. To utilize this benefit, employees must submit a QTR Form to UA Human Resources for approval prior to each semester/session of enrollment. Complete information and guidelines for the Qualified Tuition Reduction Program are available on the UA Human Resources website.

To Process a QTR Form

  1. Download the QTR Application Form from UA Human Resources, or obtain one from your department's payroll representative.
  2. Complete the form, obtain the required signatures, and send to either:

  3. You must be registered for classes, and all prior semester charges must be paid.

Important Information

  • QTR Forms must be processed, and all fees must be paid, by the Tuition Payment Deadline to avoid late charges.
  • A new QTR Form must be completed and approved for each semester/session.
  • The deadline to submit a QTR Form for Fall and Spring semesters is the 35th day of the semester for which the tuition reduction will be applied. The deadline to submit a QTR Form for Summer and Winter sessions is the Refund Deadline of the session for which the tuition reduction will be applied.

Account Information

The Qualified Tuition Reduction does not cover the following fees/charges:

  • Arizona Financial Aid Trust Fund (AFAT) Fee
  • Arizona Students Association (ASA) Fee
  • Freshman Fee
  • Health & Recreation Fee
  • Information Technology/Library (ITL) Fee
  • KAMP Radio Fee
  • Recreation Center Bond Retirement Fee
  • Recreation Center Program Fee
  • Student Services Fee
  • Excess Units Surcharge
  • Late charges
  • Course fees
  • Any other encumbrances
